Understanding the Dynamics and Roles of Meteorological Phenomena over the Oceans

We investigate the dynamics of various weather phenomena driven by oceanic environmental changes, primarily through detailed observations in the open ocean and coastal regions, to deepen our understanding of the role of these phenomena in the climate system. In particular, we focus on the “Warm Pool” – a region stretching from the tropical eastern Indian Ocean to the western Pacific, characterized by high sea surface temperatures. By studying the intense cloud and precipitation activity in this region, we seek to reveal its relationship with the ocean environment and its critical role in large-scale meteorological phenomena, such as tropical intraseasonal oscillations and typhoons, as well as the general circulation of the atmosphere.
