OverviewThe aim of the project is to demonstrate the efficient Manila clam seed production and to contribute to sustainable clam fishery. Mangoku-ura where formation of tideland is planed is emploied as a model of water for the experiment. The settled spats produced from adalut Manila clam of Mangoku-ura origin is introduced into the advanced system for intermediate culture in Mangoku-ura to verify an intensive and efficient production by the system. The cultured spats are stocked on the tideland by various methods to verify a high stocking efficiency. The project is conducted by the collaboration with Prefectural government, fishery cooperative and neighboring high school for fishery.
