MISMO project Return

MIRAI Indian Ocean cruise for the Study of the MJO-convection Onset (MISMO) was a field experiment in the central Indian Ocean during October-to-December season in 2006 (The detail is provided in MISMO project site). The Objective of MISMO was to reveal the MJO related atmospheric and oceanic characteristics in the central Indian Ocean, where is the MJO initiated region.

The observation network was constructed with R/V Mirai, mooring buoys and meteorological stations at Maldives Islands. Using Doppler radar, radiosonde, surface met monitor, CTD, shipboard ADCP, mooring buoys, Argo floats, and so on, various atmospheric and oceanographic parameters were observed. The IOMICS project participated in this field experiment to make a mooring array.
