The Meteorological Research Institute (MRI), the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and Advanced Earth Science and Technology Organization (AESTO) are cooperatively conducting a five-year (2003-2007) research project "Development of super high resolution global and regional climate models" funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Under the project, we have developed a global atmospheric general circulation model with a horizontal resolution of 20 km and performed a time-slice experiment based on the IPCC SRES A1B scenario on the Earth Simulator last year. We have been evaluating the control simulation for the present climate and have found a good performance over global scales and regional scales. Analyses and papers are underway. However, we believe that the 20km-mesh data would most contribute to the AR4 regional assessment if they are analyzed with the PCMDI multi-model output data. Since the May 1 deadline for submitting to peer-reviewed journals is approaching, we have decided to distribute our data to researchers who are engaged in the regional climate change assessment under the IPCC model analysis projects and want to use our data to supplement their multi-model intercomparison (http://www-pcmdi.llnl.gov/ipcc/about_ipcc.php).
