README for Radiosonde Data Radiosonde data are stored as ASCII file in "*.tsv", "*.dat", and "*.asc". Informations for each radiosonde launching are listed in "gcheck.log" that includes time stamp(UTC), longitude(degE), latitude(degN), exact launch time in UTC, serial number, and the results of surface calibration for pressure, temperature, and relatice humidity. For calibration results, positive values indicate that reference's value shows higher than that of each sensor. ** Remarks ** Solar radiation-induced dry bias of RS92 data have already been removed from "*.dat" and "*.asc" data by following a technique described in Yoneyama et al. (2008). --- The "*.tsv" file is original data set. The data contained are ; Time from operation start (sec) Scaled logarithmic pressure (4096*ln P) Temperature (K) Relative Humidity (%) Meridional wind component (m/sec) Zonal wind component (m/sec) Height (m) Pressure (hPa) Dew point temperature (K) Water Vapor Mixing ratio (g/kg) Wind direction (deg) Wind speed (m/sec) Sonde Azimuth (deg) Sonde distance (m) Longitude (deg) Latitude (deg) System define significant point (bitfield) User define significant point (bitfield) Height from radar (m) --- The "*.dat" file contains every 5hPa data. They are obtained from original tsv files after processing surface data correction (see the details for correction scheme to Yoneyama et al. (2002), pdf file is attached). They consists of pressure (hPa), temperature (degC), dew point temperature (degC), relative humidity (%), zonal and meridional wind cmponents (m/s), and height (m). In addition, solar radiation-induced dry bias in daytime is also removed. Missing value is expressed as "9999". Format of this file is as follows. Sonde position Longitude and Latitude (deg), Pressure (hPa), Temperature (degC), Dew point temperature (degC), relative humidity (%), zonal wind (m/s), meridional wind (m/s), mixing ratio (g/kg), specific humidity (g/kg), potential temperature (K), equivalent potential temperature (K), saturated potential temperature (K), and height (m).
