| Job Description | We are recruiting a Researcher or Researcher (II) to engage in the following research. [Research Description] (Immediately upon employment) The Biogeochemistry Research Center is focused on achieving an integrated understanding of the Earth, oceans, and biological systems. Leveraging high-precision analytical technologies, we characterize fundamental components of the Earth system, including elements, isotopes, and organic compounds. Our research illuminates the core processes driving chemical evolution, biological activity, and material dynamics, providing detailed insights into variation in the biosphere and global biogeochemical cycles. We are also working to bring research findings into practical application through collaboration among private companies and partnerships among industry, government, and academia. This call for proposals invites research in the following areas: 1. Research on biogeochemical processes in marine and aquatic environments. 2. Development of high-resolution mass spectrometry and isotope-ratio mass spectrometry techniques for the molecular-level characterization of organic compounds. 3. Development of analytical techniques for evaluating the molecular diversity of light-element-containing heterocyclic compounds, organosulfur compounds, organophosphorus compounds, and related molecular groups. 4. Research on Solar System materials science and chemical evolution, together with the development of novel analytical and experimental technologies. 5. Research applying biogeochemical processes toward the societal implementation of novel technological elements and applications. We are seeking researchers (Science) capable of leading research and development in one or more of the areas listed above—specifically, those who can further advance the high-level organic chemical analysis technologies that our organization has cultivated to date, and who possess the ability to visualize material information in the ocean, Earth, and living organisms in space and time and to make future predictions—as well as researchers (Technology) who are eager to acquire an interdisciplinary perspective and a multifaceted methodological approach, and who are expected to achieve outstanding scientific results. For details on the research and development conducted at the Biogeochemistry Research Center, please visit our website at https://www.jamstec.go.jp/biogeochem/index_e.html (The scope of possible changes) The duties designated by JAMSTEC [Relevant Research Fields] Biogeochemistry, Inorganic/Organic Geochemistry, Natural Products Chemistry, Isotope Chemistry, Mass Spectrometry, Geochemistry and Astrochemistry, and their interdisciplinary fields. |
| Job Type | [Job Title] Researcher (Science): Researcher (Science) is expected primarily to conduct fundamental, originative or advanced research based on theories, observations and experiments related to research and development. Researcher (Technology): Researcher (Technology) is expected to conduct fundamental, originative, or advanced technology development and related research. [Position] Researcher: Researcher is expected to further accumulate and develop its own expertise, and to continuously create and publish the results of their main papers and technology development as a dedicated researcher. Researcher (II): Researcher (II) is expected independently to conduct research and technology development and to share results through scientific publications and achieve technology innovation. *Job Title (Science/Technology) and the position will be determined during the employment process. |
