| Job Description | We are seeking a Researcher or Researcher (II) to engage in the following research: [Research Description] (Immediately upon employment) Our center conducts simulation studies utilizing various numerical models, including Earth System Models (ESMs), to clarify the complex dynamics and interaction mechanisms of the Earth system, comprising the atmosphere, ocean, land, ecosystems, and anthroposphere. We are recruiting a Researcher or Researcher (II) to lead pioneering simulation research on multi-sphere interactions—specifically incorporating continental ice sheets and solid Earth models, which have not been comprehensively covered in conventional ESMs—and investigate Earth system dynamics operating across diverse temporal scales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Research on the construction of next-generation simulation infrastructure based on ESMs, including development of coupling modules that integrate continental ice sheet and solid Earth models. 2. Research aimed at understanding Earth system dynamics (including reconstructions of global environmental change over geological timescales) and elucidating the mechanisms underlying abrupt transition phenomena. (The scope of possible changes) The duties designated by JAMSTEC [Relevant Research Fields] Climatology, Paleoclimatology, Computational science, etc. |
