------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mirai MR21-03 Special Sonde (High Altitude Radiosonde) during the YMC-BSM 2021 campaign revised 16 Mar. 2023 drafted 08 July 2022 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Summary This is an archive of high altitude radiosonde data obtained during the R/V Mirai MR21-03 cruise aiming at measuring the temperature and the winds up to 40 km by using large balloons (3,000 or 4,000 g balloon). The sensor used is Meisei iMS-100. 2. Spatial Type Vertical profile 3. Frequency 27 times 4. Temporal coverage From 2021-05-27 To 2021-07-05 5. Spatial coverage Maximum (North) Latitude 29.45N Minimum (South) Latitude 01.30N Maximum (East) Longitude 155.55E Minimum (West) Longitude 136.49E 6. Files R[1|2]/F[YYYY][MM][DD][HH]S[NNNNNNN].CSV R[1|2]: Receiver number. We used three receivers (R1, R2, and R3) for the special radio soundings. All are the same type of Meisei RD08AC system. The receiver R1 was used in all the high altitude radiosonde observations. Depending on the situation, the receiver R2 was also used simultaneously as a backup in some soundings. The data obtained by merging the R1 and R2 soundings are also available (see Readme_SpecialSonde_HighAltitudeRadiosonde_merged.txt). [YYYY][MM][DD][HH]: Launch date and time [NNNNNNN]: Serial number of radiosonde. 7. Remarks. If you have questions on this dataset, contact ymc-joffice@jamstec.go.jp.
