The last person who analyzed this year was a master course student at Kanazawa University. He was scanning the modern planktic foraminifera Globigerina bulloides to improve the taxonomic criteria.

Students from Kochi University visited our laboratory and analyzed the morphology of planktonic foraminifera collected from the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean.

The TV program "Science Zero" was aired on NHK on July 14th. The theme was "ocean acidification". It was broadcasted about our MXCT lab and research.

A graduate student set a record by analyzing the shell morphology of the planktonic foraminifera Globigerina bulloides, with over 180 individuals in 5 days. Congratulations! A vast amount of analysis awaits after this. ;)

Work to replace with a brand-new X-ray source unit (product by Hamamatsu Photonics K.K.). It’s so heavy, 81 kg!

We have succeeded in acquiring a "ghost" (donuts-like brighter image) on the X-ray tube mounted on the microfocus X-ray CT. This is a fundamental problem resulting from a structural issue with the X-ray tube, but some measures are needed to fix it.

We have started an investigation of morphological changes of shellfish and the effect of ocean acidification in the Tokyo bay together with the Japanese TV station.

The latest 3D reconstructed image of radiolarian fossils since MXCT was repaired.The problem seems to have been resolved successfully.

We are currently repairing the MXCT1 sample rotation stage due to a defect in the XY axis. :(
