研究テーマ:
Recently my research interests are mainly focused on Arctic Ocean Circulation and heat and salt budget/transportation in the Arctic Ocean. Since satellite observation started in the late 1970s, we can see a significant retreat of Arctic sea-ice, which is closely correlated with global climate change. Related with such Arctic change, I believe that both sea ice (formation/melting) and ocean (heat/salt budget/transportation) well-correlates with each other. To measure and study such interactions, JAMSTEC have been conducting R/V Mirai cruise for the Arctic Ocean and also ice-drifting buoy observation in the Arctic sea-ice area since early 1990s. Then, I'm having very unique and very good opportunities to visit the Arctic Ocean for such ice-drifting buoy deployments and observation once or twice a year. Going to the Arctic Ocean, I'm thinking and studying what is going on in the Arctic Ocean from the oceanographic site of view...
