Biography

2009年に学位を取得し、その後JAMSTECのポスドク研究員として北極海の研究をスタートさせる。現在は研究員として、現場観測と数値モデルの両方の立場から急速に進行する北極海の海氷減少について日々研究を行っている。

Since I got the degree of Ph.D at Hokkaido University in 2009, I started the research of the Arctic Ocean at JAMSTEC as a postdoctoral researcher. I am currently, as a researcher, working on a research of the rapidly progressing problem of the Arctic Ocean sea-ice retreat, from the standpoint of in-situ observations and numerical model.
   


  1. 漂流ブイを用いた北極海の海氷融解量の調査
    北極点付近の多年氷に自動昇降式の水温・塩分プロファイラー(POPS)を設置して、海氷下の海洋混合層の変化に注目しながら海氷の融解量などを調べている。アラスカ大学IARCのHutchings博士やフランスのVivier博士らと連携して、北極海における大気・海氷・海洋の3者の関係性について研究している。

    We investigate the Arctic sea-ice reduction using ice-mounted buoy systems as a part of North Pole Environmental Observatory (NPEO) project. In a framework of international cooperation, we have studied how plays the linkage among ocean mixed layer and ice deformation roles in the sea ice reduction in the central Arctic Ocean.

    研究船みらいを用いた北極海の乱流観測
    海氷がもっとも後退する夏の終わりに、研究船みらいを用いて北極海で海洋の微細構造を捉える乱流観測を行っている。ベーリング海から流入する太平洋水が、北極海の海氷減少にどれだけの影響を与えているかを明かにする。

    We have been observing microscale structure of the upper ocean, associated with the sea ice retreat, in the western Arctic Ocean, using the R/V Mirai. We aim to reveal and quantify how the warm Pacific water, flowing from the Bering Sea during summer, give impacts on the Arctic sea ice decline.

    沿岸ポリニアにおける高密度水形成
    アラスカ沿岸で形成される沿岸ポリニアは、北極海の中層循環を駆動する中層水の形成にとって重要な役割を果たす。ポリニアがどのような条件下で発生し、そこから排出される高塩分なブライン水によってどう高密度水を生成していくのかを、人工衛星と数値モデルを組み合わせた手法で研究を行っている。

    Coastal polynya formed by the coast of Alaska, plays an important role for the formation of intermediate water circulation that drives the middle of the Arctic Ocean. We have been conducting a research based on the techniques of numerical model and satellite. We reveal that the dense shelf water due to high salinity brine water, that is rejected at polynya, is produced and then discharged from the Chukchi Sea shelf region under what conditions.
