Data Science Research Program conducts research and development of data science methodologies that leverage the vast and diverse datasets inherent in marine-earth life sciences to deepen scientific understanding and accelerate the creation of value-added information. Our primary focus is systematizing and utilizing knowledge through domain-specific multimodal generative AI, as well as advancing prediction and analysis by integrating process-driven and data-driven approaches. Furthermore, we promote transdisciplinary R&D and lead the research community in data science across a wide spectrum of data, including observations and simulations. By strengthening collaboration beyond REIS, we will accelerate scientific breakthroughs across JAMSTEC and maximize our contribution to solving societal challenges.
