Mar. 2022

We held a meeting to report the results of this project for FY2021 and the 4th advisory committee meeting online on March 3, 2022. At the meeting to report the results, we had a wide range of participants from industry, government, academia and the general public. At the advisory committee meeting, the advisory board members gave us specific advice and recommendations towards the final year of the project and the future vision. We will strive to bring the results of the expectations expressed at the meetings to fruition.

Oct. 2021

In October 2021, we conducted the 6th online tutorial on "E-wave FEM", a program package for large-scale finite element analysis of earthquake ground motion, developed in this project.
The tutorial for the project members of our partner companies, reviewed all the procedures of E-wave FEM; pre-processing, large-scale finite element calculations of earthquake ground motion on a supercomputer, and visualization of calculation results. It also underlined improvements of the user-interface and new functions such as introducing real subsurface structure data, which modifications reflected feedback from 1st to 5th tutorial participants. In particular, this 6th lecture encouraged to make full use of the supercomputer Fugaku for E-wave FEM, as the computer has been in operation since March 2021.
Thanks to additional feedback from our partner users of the software, we will make further progress of the E-wave FEM package to meet industrial requirements.

Sept. 2021

On September 17, 2021, we held the 9th project meeting with representative and cooperating organizations, and the 3rd advisory committee meeting online. At the project meeting, we reviewed the progress of our project and discussed the contents of the subsequent advisory committee meeting. At the advisory committee meeting, we explained our specific goal setting to the committee members, and they provided their expertise including advice on the future direction of the project.

July 2021

At the main exhibition of the "Society 5.0 Science Expo" co-hosted by Cabinet Office (Secretariat for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation) and JAMSTEC to be held at Tokyo Sky Tree Town from July 15, 2021, we will show the results of our research project on long-period ground motion simulations by projection mapping.
