TOP500
Earth Simulator was ranked again as No.1 for the global "Top 500" supercomputers in June 2004.
Prof. Dongarra has developed a benchmark test called the Linpack. And he and other three members, Dr. Erich Stochmaier and Dr. Horst D. Simon of NERSC in USA and Prof. Hans Meuer, University of Manheim in Germany, jointly started TOP500 project in 1993. Among the supercomputers of the world, top 500 to be selected and ranked based on the result of Linpack test. The ranking list is released at their web site with the system information and updated every six months.
Earth Simulator was ranked as No.1 and was awarded for the fifth time since June, 2002 by the achievement of 35.86Tflops with full node configuration. (Jun. 22, 2004 JST)
