R/V MIRAI

"maintenance"

Fine and calm sea

Observations:

Almost work well.
Since it is clear today, researcher has performed the adjustment of rain sampler (photo-1). Note: Photo-2 is a water vapor sampler.

Remarks:

One of the key parameters to be measured during the MISMO is the sea surface temperature (SST). In particular, diurnal cycle of SST is thought to play a key role for the development of shallow cumulus and congestus clouds, that precondition for the deep MJO-convections. For the precise measurement of SST, we've deployed ISAR (Infrared Sea surface temperareure Autonomous Radiometer) with the aid of RSMAS/Univ. of Miami and RMR Co.(photo-3). Today, technical staff of RMR Co. had a lecture on ISAR (photo-4).
