Beginning with a science drilling proposal, the CDEX Operations Group takes the science objectives and proposed drill sites to start creating an operational plan designed to achieve the scientific targets, as far a technically possible. This includes performing site surveys to collect bathymetry data, subsurface structure, and weather/maritime data at the drilling site. The drilling plan reviews drilling jobs and equipment to achieve the scientific objectives, safely and efficiently.
To successfully accomplish the science goals, CDEX Operations Group manages and supervises operational progress, on-site and on-shore, during the drilling campaign. Borehole data, such as logging while drilling and mud logging provide important information for geological evaluation and about borehole conditions.
