The Research Support and Administration Section
~ Research support, facility management, and administrative work ~

With the launch of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology’s (JAMSTEC’s) fourth medium term plan, the MIO is under the Research Institute for Global Change (RIGC), and the research support, facility management, and administrative work functions of the MIO have been integrated into the Research Support and Administration Section.

Research Support

Research support involves three key responsibilities:

  • Support the operation and maintenance of the marine environment observation system in the eastern Tsugaru Strait.
  • Operate and maintain the equipment used to analyze environmental samples collected by research vessels.
  • Enhance the social utility of the research data.

Facility Management

Manage and maintain the facilities and equipment necessary for the MIO’s observation research.

Administrative Work

In addition to general administrative work, coordination of the entry and exit of the Mirai is a particularly important aspect of MIO management. However, dissemination of the scientific knowledge obtained through marine research remains our primary objective.
