Please consider to submit your paper to JMSJ and SOLA as COSC paper.

1. Theme: Years of the Maritime Continent (YMC)

    The Years of the Maritime Continent or YMC is a multi-national and a multi-year effort, which aim at improving our understanding and prediction skill of the weather-climate systems over the Maritime Continent (MC) as well as its global impact. Its field campaign phase has been started since July 2017 and is scheduled to continue beyond 2020. During this campaign period, several intensive observations have been/will be conducted and those datasets are available for not only actual participants but also general scientific community. Its first dataset has been released from February 2019 from YMC web site at https://www.jamstec.go.jp/ymc/. By considering this opportunity, this special edition solicits to submit a paper that can be produced using those YMC datasets as well as numerical and theoretical studies related to this field campaign.

The submitted manuscript follows the ordinary review procedure of respective journals. But, please be sure to choose "YMC" during the submission process. The author(s) must follow the instructions for respective journals;

3. Important Dates

Deadline of submission:
  JMSJ: 30 September 2020 Extended to 31 December 2020
  SOLA: 30 September 2020 Extended to 31 December 2020(*)

Publication:
  JMSJ: Regular issues in 2019 - 2021.
  SOLA: Special issue Vol. 16A in 2020(*), and regular issue in 2021.


* Note *

For SOLA articles, APC discount will be applied only to the papers, which are published in Vol. 16A. Thus, it must be accepted by mid-November 2020 to receive this benefit.

6. Special Remark

Article Processing Charge (APC) will be discounted for the papers published in this special edition. The amount of the discount will be 50,000 JPY for JMSJ Articles, 30,000 JPY for JMSJ Notes, and 20,000 JPY for SOLA Articles, respectively.
Note that APC discount for SOLA article is applied only to the papers which are published in Vol. 16A.
 Not available anymore after January 2021.

7. Notes related to Cross-Organization Special Collection

The accepted papers in this JMSJ/SOLA joint special edition on YMC is automatically incorporated into "Cross-Organization Special Collection of Publications on YMC (COSC-YMC)" since January 2020.   Note that, however, this JMSJ/SOLA joint edition procedure as well as APC special discount mentioned above are valid only for the papers submitted to JMSJ/SOLA before their respective deadlines.   After that, all procedures are the same as that for JMSJ/SOLA regular issues except their appearance in the COSC-YMC site (https://www.jamstec.go.jp/ymc/ymc_sp_collection.html).
