Assessing the impact of human activity and global environmental change on biodiversity

Marine biodiversity is sensitive to changes in the global environment, and we will seek to understand changes in that biodiversity and assess the impact of human activity on ecosystems. Our knowledge of deep-sea ecosystems in particular is still scarce, and we will gather more data and upgrade integrated environmental impact assessment methods by developing technologies for such purposes as analyzing environmental DNA, and measuring microplastics and other environmental pollutants.
