Development and Management Group for Publish Information
Development and Management Group for Publish Information publishes and provides access to research results data obtained through the use of JAMSTEC’s vessels and observation systems, while also promoting their utilization. In addition, we work toward integrating research and operations by developing systems and refining related technologies that support the effective use of research results information, thereby contributing to the advancement of open science.
1.Receipt, storage, and disclosure of ocean and earth observation data
We receive, store, and disclose the research data,videos,images and rocks, cores, and biological sample information obtained by the research vessels and observation systems of JAMSTEC.We are also improving operational efficiency and are creating publish systems, using new technology.
2.Compilation and Dissemination of Marine Biodiversity Data
We operate the Japan Ocean Biodiversity Information System Center (J-OBIS), which is the Japanese node of the Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS). Additionally, we disseminate information both domestically and overseas by compiling marine biodiversity data around Japan and providing it to OBIS via the Biological Information System for Marine Life (BISMaL).
3.Initiatives to promote open science and utilization of data and samples
To contribute to the open science, we are promoting the publication and sharing of research data, and are also building systems for management and cooperation of information and for further utilization of data.
4.Preparation, operation, and update of handling regulations of data and samples
We create rules for handling data and samples taken by the equipment such as the research vessels and submersibles of JAMSTEC.
5.Management and Public Dissemination of Research Results and Achievements
We collect, manage, and publicly share research results and academic achievements generated by JAMSTEC.
