08 Nov. 2011: Mirai

Nov.08Sunny / Cloudy

Most of the instruments and observations are working well.

Surface wind speed become slightly increase, to 8 m/s. This is due to increase of easterly component below 1-km height, as seen in radiosonde sounding. The northwesterly prevail above 500hPa height. Humidity below 600hPa height increase. TPW is now above 50 mm. CAPE is about 1.5 kJ/kg for recent days. The widespread echo again appeared but in the west of us. (again not above us ... )

The barrier layer in the ocean keep on existing, while the salinity increased thru the layer above thermocline. Temperature is rising above the barrier layer, while the diurnal peak of SST is less than that in yeasterday. It may reflect the increase of the surface wind speed.
