The Global Oceanic Environment Research Group focuses on basin-scale changes in the oceanic environment associated with climate change. This group mainly uses the global ocean observation platform for researches (e.g., Argo float array), in collaboration with other observation networks, to detect broad-scale phenomena and to clarify these changes and their mechanisms. The group also suggests improvements to global ocean observing schemes that take advantage of the strengths of these observation networks.
To reduce large uncertainties in oceanographic studies, we are working on developing an optimized combination of various observing schemes. Our ultimate goal is to fully exploit observations and data assimilation techniques to improve our understanding of the real ocean
