27 Nov. 2015: Bengkulu

The intensive observation continues from Bengkulu at the rate of one sounding every 3 hours. "Intensive" is the word. Taking into account (1) the sonde preparation-time (about 30 minutes); (2) the time for the sonde to reach the 5km below which it must be re-launched in case of failure (20 minutes of stressful wait) and (3) the time for the sonde to reach 100hPa (about 1h1/4) that is when we send the data through GTS (Global Telecommunication System) to the operational meteorological centers of the entire world... there is very little time left to rest. How welcome is the time of the final launch of the night shift! The sun rises, closely followed by the first plane of the day, then BMKG and pre-YMC balloons finally take off. The timing is close to perfect.
