01 Oct. 2011: Mirai
CINDY2011/DYNAMO Intensive Observation Period has been started from today, while Mirai occupied SE site and had already started stationary observation since Sept 30.
During on-station, the following will be routinely conducted every 3 hours; radiosonde launch, CTD cast down to 500m, microstructure profiler cast down to 300m, atmospheric turbulent flux measurement against upwind. In addition, continuous observations such as C-band scanning Doppler radar, vertical-pointing cloud radar, lidar, skin-SST measurement by radiometer and floating thermistor, will be carried out.
Today the easterlies prevailed entire troposphere. Mirai was surrounded by thick cloud band developed over zonal direction.
