Introduction of the ‘Yamagata Young Climate Scientist Award’ at the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology

Based on a proposal by Prof. Toshio Yamagata, Project Principal Researcher of the Application Laboratory, the ‘Yamagata Young Climate Scientist Award’ was introduced on June 17, 2024, at the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) in China to honor and reward internationally outstanding young climate scientists. Prof. Yamagata said that climate science research and its applications have no borders, and he hoped that this award will motivate young researchers and contribute to further understanding and technological innovation in the field of climate sciences.

Mingbao Hu, Chief Accountant of the NUIST, congratulated Prof. Yamagata for his great contribution to the education, research, and internationalization of climate science in China over the years and extended his sincere thanks to Prof. Yamagata for the award and the establishment of the special award fund.
