APL Director Swadhin K. Behera visited Universitas Padjadjaran as part of the new research initiative Match Making Research Interest (MMRI) – Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) during 14–22 February. During his visit, he delivered four lectures on air–sea interactions to students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences.
Dr. Behera also appeared, together with his host Dr. Fadli Syamsudin, on a podcast at RRI Bandung, where they discussed the links between climate variability and extreme events, and the application of SINTEX-F predictions for early warning systems and targeted interventions in Indonesia—particularly for vulnerable small-island communities. The discussion further highlighted the importance of seasonal climate predictions for agriculture, fisheries, public health, and water resource management in support of Indonesia’s national food security program.
APL and Universitas Padjadjaran maintain an active collaborative research agreement. Taking this opportunity, Dr. Behera met with the Dean, Prof. Sunarto, Dr. Fadli Syamsudin, and Vice Dean Dr. Mega Laksmini Syamsuddin of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science to review ongoing collaborative activities and discuss future directions.
