Research Topics

サブダクションスラブの三次元可視化
サブダクションスラブはマントル内部へと沈み込んだプレートであり、その形状を明らかにすることはマントル対流の構造を知る上で重要である。サブダクションスラブは地震波トモグラフィーの海溝から繋がる地震波速度異常値正の領域で表現されるが、ある特定の異常値でスラブとマントルの境界を描くことは出来ない。そのため従来の等値面を描くという三次元可視化手法ではうまくサブダクションスラブの形状を表現することが出来なかった。よって、スラブの形状を抽出することを目的として、速度異常値の等値面を描くのでは無く、その分布がそのまま表現出来る地震波トモグラフィーの新しい三次元可視化手法を開発している。
