Research Topics

粉体の摩擦
地震とは破壊と摩擦不安定をともなう断層の高速すべりであり、そのダイナミクスは断層の摩擦法則によって支配されている。 断層は過去の断層運動で生成した粉砕物・断層ガウジを含んでいるので、粉体の摩擦をその構成則から理解することが重要である。 本研究では断層すべりを支配する摩擦法則を室内実験により研究している。 関与する物理過程を制御し本質を抜き出すことにより、現象論の抽出とその理論的解明を目指している。

<粉体層の摩擦実験>

動的な地震現象の理解のための実験教材の開発
地球物理学の中でも地震学で扱う現象は視認しにくく、断層破壊や波動伝播に関する動的な実験教材は非常に少ない。 ハイドロゲルを利用して断層の動的破壊や地震波伝播などの現象を実際に見て触って実感できる新しい実験実習教材を開発している。
