Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, Cloudy, partly rain : Mirai

"send-off"

The R/V MIRAI left Singapore for the Indian Ocean in this morning smoothly. Scientists, marine technicians, students as well as ship crew are all fine. Mirai is scheduled to start the observations after she enters the Indonesian EEZ and territorial waters and the security officer join the cruise, as we obtain permissions from their government.

"R/V Mirai: The 1st day"

We onboard R/V Mirai departed Singapore today (photo-1).
The weather was cloudy at departure. But soon after the departure, the widespread heavy rain covered us. It was a good celebration for our project aiming to capture the raining clouds (photo-2).
We need, however, one more for the project: The internation cooperation. The small, traditional-style ship enable us, by bringing collaborators from Indonesia. They come to the scheduled point at scheduled time, even under the heavy rain. With their skillfullness, braveness and faithfullness, we headed the Indian Ocean. (photo-3)
The safety is our first concern. We assure the procedure on emergency. (photo-4)
