Two persons who work at JAMSTEC Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences (Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama-city) have been tested positive for the COVID-19 PCR test.
Since the positive cases were confirmed (announced on February 2) in MIRAI anchored in the Port of Shimizu (Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City), we have conducted PCR tests continuously on all mariners aboard. Two new positive cases were confirmed.
JAMSTEC and its Emergency Response Headquarters Office headed by the President will continue to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 following the instructions of the local public health center.
