Ocean Observation Support
The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) has contracted with several service companies to provide technical support for ocean observation and research, for both onboard and land operations. These technicians do important work, supporting (from land and at sea) all observations and surveys conducted by JAMSTEC research vessels.
- Observation and research support for the deep-sea exploration vessel Chikyu.
- Land support at Mutsu Research Institute, Yokohama Research Institute, JAMSTEC Yokosuka Headquarters, the Kochi Core Research Institute, etc.
- Work support from JAMSTEC offices, such as Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences (YES), Mutsu Institute for Oceanography (MIO), Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research (KOCHI) and Global Oceanographic Data Center (GODAC).
