R/V MIRAI
"cruising to southward"
Partly cloudy in the morning, later rain
At the night, MIRAI is now under the influence of the typhoon with
strong east-north-easterly. Significant wave height exceeds 3m.
Observations:
As we were closing to the typhoon, sea conditions became worth. Figure attached shows the time series of the true wind speed. X-axis indicates the time expressed as UTC. So, it depicts the time variation of wind speed from 00:00 LST, October 4 (= 15:00 UTC, Oct. 3) through 00:00 LST, October 6.
Remarks:
We are now cruising to southward, as if we were catching the typhoon.
Photo-1 shows the sea conditions in the morning. At that time, it was
not so rough at all.
Today, we had a fire drill in the afternoon. However, as we practiced
seriously, we have no photo on this.
Just before the dinner time, we prayed the Kompira-san for the safety
and productive cruise (photo-2).
