R/V MIRAI

"only 3 weeks left"

Fine
First southerly, then easterly wind (3-5m/s) prevailed.
Significant wave height was 1.3-1.5 m.

Observations:

All measurement systems were fully operated.
Snow White sonde was launched at 1400 LST.
Since it became clear sky again, SST increased to 30 degC. According to the satellite cloud images, it is covered with clouds over the entire northern Indian Ocean. In the daytime, cumulus and congestus clouds much prevailed. We could see a broken rainbow in the evening (photo-1).

Remarks:

Where is the MJO convection ? We are now in suppressed period and surely obtain the data. We have only 3 weeks more. We had again MIRAI seminar today. Today's talk was presented by JAMSTEC staff on m-TRITON buoy (technology and related science). In addition, science talk related to SST was presented. (photos 2-5).
