R/V MIRAI

"Indian Ocean"

Cloudy, later partly fine. In the evening, we had shower.

Observations:

Oceanic observations have been stopped.
Final preparation for observation have being conducted.

Remarks:

At last, MIRAI entered into the Indian Ocean. North-North-Easterly pushs the MIRAI southward. Significant wave height is about 2m.
In the western Indian Ocean, convective activity have strengthened. But, it seems that they do not show the apparent shift to eastward yet.
Before arriving the observation site, we must do what we can do as much as possible. Photo-1 shows that Assistant Professor teaches his students about the CTD with Chlorophyll sensor. Photo-2 shows MWJ technical staff prepare for the mooring system.
Just before the dinner, we again had Kompira-san ceremony to pray the safety cruise and success of the observation.
