R/V MIRAI

"arrived at Singapore"

Smog
Thunder and lightning with heavy rain were found in the late afternoon. According to the local news, due to the forest fire in Indonesia, we have smog here.

Observations:

No observation has been done.

Remarks:

As on scheduled, MIRAI arrived at Singapore at 1300 LST. (No photograph is available, because of within restricted area.) While immigration and custom prcedures had been conducted, researchers who will join the cruise have arrived at the port. After those procedures, they embark the MIRAI and soon started to unpack their equippment and private goods. Since some guys are the first time to get on board, some of us guided the inside.
In the evening, we went to the downtown to take a dinner. The past two-week cruise was not so long and we did not miss the land. Instead, since we spent within a limited number of persons, we were surprised to see so many people in the downtown.
