R/V MIRAI

"Mirai has just departed Singapore"

Smog (hazy)

Observations:

Some continuous observations have been started from the evening. Otherwise, reseachers have prepared for the observation, that will be mainly conducted near the intensive observation area in the central equatorial Indian Ocean.
According to the satellite data, apparently cloud activity became active in the western-central tropical Indian Ocean. We may meet them before arriving the stationary observation site.

Remarks:

MIRAI departed Singapore for the Indian Ocean, though it was delayed a little bit due to the delay of pilot embarkation. In the afternoon, we had again a guidance for safety ship-life (photo-1) and fire drill (photo-2). Following that, we also had a meeting for observation. We confirmed the schedule, observation items, contents of work, and so on.
